About Civil Engineering
Civil Engineering is a blend of several disciplines including structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, environmental engineering, construction engineering and management, and transportation engineering. SVIET (Your College Name) has enjoyed tremendous growth in the past few years, thanks to the success of infrastructure projects that have a strong demand for high-caliber civil engineering graduates. Civil engineering has been a major part of the general engineering curriculum since the establishment of SVIET. The program is fully accredited by the JNTUK Institution of Engineers, subject to the approval of the Head of the Department of Civil Engineering.
We focus on the interactions between the built environment and the natural world, recognizing that civil and environmental engineering are crucial to meeting the major challenges faced by society. These challenges include climate change, economic recovery, growing population and urbanization, conservation of natural resources, development of renewable energy sources, sustainable transport, environmental quality, and infrastructure aging and resilience. Our graduates possess the skills, knowledge, and attitudes necessary to lead society’s response to these challenges.
Career Prospects
Our comprehensive and versatile undergraduate program offers students an excellent opportunity to develop a career in civil engineering. The solid training provided gives students an excellent preparation for the increasing and changing demands of society. Upon graduation, most of our past graduates have entered various private sector bodies as trainee engineers. Our graduates have typically become qualified engineers within a few years and many have excelled in their chosen careers, presently occupying top-level positions in well-reputed organizations.
Year of Establishment
The Department of Civil Engineering was established in the year 2009 with an intake of 60 students.
Staff
The staff is highly qualified and equipped with upgraded knowledge, conducting research-oriented projects and consultancy works.

In this regard, the department is committed to excellence in technical education and R&D, with regular interaction with industries, and a holistic concern for ethics, environment, and society.

Long-Term Goals
- Our program is characterized by an assessment process for continuous improvement/feedback in areas of instruction and learning methods to enhance the benefits of the educational experience.
- We seek to implement program advancements through continuous improvement of departmental and college facilities.
- To make every student, after completion of their B.Tech course, fit into top companies like L&T, DLF for employment.
- To encourage faculty for a higher number of research publications.
- To develop consultancy activities and encourage research programs in the department.
Short-Term Goals
- Achieve 75% academic results.
- To encourage the professional development of students, including an understanding of an engineer’s responsibilities, communication skills, soft skills, and service through participation in engineering, professional, and collaborative industry activities.
- To continually enhance the teaching effectiveness of the civil engineering faculty.
- To encourage students to participate in paper presentation contests at the national level

Department Library
DEPARTMENT OF CIVIL ENGINEERING
About Library
The Civil Engineering department is equipped with its own library, in addition to the Central Library of the institution. The department library comprises a substantial number of volumes, magazines, dailies, and reference books for ready reference by its staff and students. Currently, the department library has different volumes with various titles. It also subscribes to e-Journals, Journals, and Magazines.
In addition to curriculum books, the library also has titles in the reference section that help students in preparing for competitive exams and placement tests. The rich collection of books on software technologies allows students to improve their technical and programming skills. CDs and DVDs of lectures are also available in the department library, facilitating quick learning. While the library currently caters to the needs of undergraduate and postgraduate students, it is also being developed to meet the needs of staff pursuing their doctoral programs in the future.
The library functions on all working days from Monday to Saturday.
